1. Controller / Verantwortliche Stelle
Regina Hunter

2. Hosting
This website is hosted using Cloudflare Pages, a service of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Cloudflare processes technical data needed to deliver and protect the website on Regina Hunter’s behalf. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interests are the secure, reliable and efficient provision of this website. Cloudflare’s Data Processing Addendum includes safeguards for transfers outside the EEA, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.
3. Server logs
When you visit the website, the hosting service processes server-log data that may include your IP address, the date and time of the request, the requested page, browser and operating-system information, and the referring page (referrer). This processing is necessary to deliver the website, maintain stability, diagnose errors and protect it from misuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Log data is kept only for the short period needed for those purposes; Cloudflare states that default end-user activity logs, where retained for the service, are normally kept for seven days. A longer period may apply when needed to investigate a specific security incident or comply with a legal obligation.
4. Newsletter
The newsletter is provided through MailerLite Limited, 88 Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, D02 DK18, Ireland, which processes subscriber data on Regina Hunter’s behalf. When you subscribe, MailerLite stores your email address, the signup time and IP address, and the confirmation time and IP address. MailerLite uses a double opt-in process: after signup, you receive a confirmation email and are added to the active mailing list only after confirming.
The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in every newsletter or by emailing the controller. Withdrawal does not affect processing that took place before it. Subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe or otherwise withdraw consent, subject to limited retention where required to document consent or comply with legal obligations.
5. Contact enquiries
When you use the contact form or email Regina Hunter, your name, email address, message, subject and the time of submission are processed so the enquiry can be reviewed and answered. Contact-form messages are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database and are not added to the newsletter. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry concerns a contract or steps before entering into a contract; otherwise it is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on the legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. Messages are deleted when they are no longer needed, normally no later than 12 months after the final response, unless statutory retention duties or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims require longer storage.
6. Cookies, scripts and external links
The website itself does not use analytics or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies when required to protect the website, for example during bot or challenge checks. The newsletter form uses MailerLite’s external embed script. That script is loaded only after you actively tick the newsletter-consent box; your browser then connects to MailerLite to prepare and submit the form. Because the MailerLite script is not necessary for viewing the rest of the site, it is treated as an optional service and is not loaded before that action.
The site links to Amazon, Goodreads, Instagram and TikTok. No data is sent to those services merely because a link is displayed; their own privacy terms apply when you follow a link.
7. Your rights
Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you have the right to request access to your personal data (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18), and data portability (Article 20). You may object to processing based on legitimate interests (Article 21) and may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Article 7(3)). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority (Article 77), in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement.
